NTI and the NHS
Cheshire & Warrington NTI has been strongly involved with a number of NHS projects for over 3 years. While the projects vary in scope and content, NHS partners have consistently found the NTIs ability to provide and broker training throughout the region, as well as our H.E links, to be advantageous.
- Project and Programme Management Training for the NHS
-
- The NTI offers PRINCE2 Project Management and M_o_R Management of Risk courses and exams at discounted fees for NHS staff.
- The NTI also offers bespoke short courses in project and programme management, such as a one-day introduction to project management course which has been designed in collaboration with a local SHA specifically to meet their requirements. For more information on how the NTI can help your organisation, please contact us.
- SOLVS - Suporting Ongoing Learning in Vocational Settings
-
SOLVS stands for "Supporting Ongoing Learning in Vocational Settings", a two-year collaborative project funded by JISC, and involving Lifelong Learning Networks and Universities across the North-West. The University of Chester is the lead institution for this project, which is being managed by the NTI. For more information, see the SOLVS website.
Taking two employment sectors, Health and Social Care and Creative Industries, the project will develop an approach to personal development planning that can be later rolled out to other sectors. A learner portal for each sector will enable learners in employment to plan routes for their career and personal development, and provide ways to search for learning opportunities from multiple providers that fit their needs. ePortfolio facilities will help them present applications to enrol on courses, and 'social software' will be explored as a means to give mentoring and peer support.
Please contact us if you would like more information about the links between SOLVS and the Health Sector..
- Foundation Degree in Health Informatics
- The NTI was involved in the design and validation of this successful course, which is taught by members of staff from the University of Chester, and draws part-time students from the NHS across the region.
- Basic IT Training Scheme
- In early 2005, the NTI won a contract to broker basic IT training for NHS staff across the region, based upon the OCN "Getting Started in IT" qualification for complete beginners, and on the ECDL for more experienced users. The training has been provided by FE colleges from the NTI consortium, both at college sites and on NHS premises.
- NPfIT (National Programme for IT) - Training Certification Scheme
- Also from early 2005, the NTI worked with the multi-national software company iSOFT on a programme to provide delegates on certain NPfIT-related iSOFT training courses with university-validated certificates of competance. The NTI provided advice to iSOFT regarding assessment and certification procedures, and was instrumental in setting up a new validation process at the university which will also be applicable for organisations with similar requirements in the future.
